Gerhard
Barkhorn was the second most successful fighter pilot in the German
Luftwaffe during World War II.
He was credited with 301 victories and
other than Erich Hartmann, Barkhorn was the only other fighter ace to
ever exceed 300 claimed victories
In 1942, he joined the "Jagdverband
44", led by Adolf Galland, and was one of the first to fly the
legendary Messerschmitt Me 262- fighter planes.
After WW2, Barkhorn
joined the Bundeswehr (German Armed Forces) and was squadron leader
of the famous "Ghost Squadron ".
This classic jacket was
a favorite among the Luftwaffe and was worn regularly

at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War in the Condor Legion, as
well as later in Africa in 1942.
