Record-Airplane E. Beinhorn
Ellie Beinhorn planned to establish a special kind of record with her ME BF
108 plane. She wanted to fly from Germany to Asia and back in 24 hours.
In order
to be able to attempt this, she had 2 bigger tanks installed on her plane.
On August 13, 1935, she was ready. Beinhorn started at 03:30 o'clock in Gleiweitz.
By 06:00 o'clock, she had already crossed over 5 countries;
arriving by the
Bosperus on the asian side of the river at 09:20 o'clock. There she landed,
refilled her tanks in Yesilköy, and after an hour long break, she started
on the trip back home.
Since the trip ended in Berlin, she had to actually fly 450 km more on the home
trip, and then also to end up having to fly in bad weather conditions shortly
before her goal point in Berlin.
(The Weather was so bad that the Lufthansa
did not even fly anymore.)
Despite of these flying conditions, Ellie Beinhorn landed in Berlin, after 3470
km, at 18:08 o'clock!
Ernst Udet, her former flying instructor, greetet her
in his well known wry way by saying, "Das hast du ganz nett gemacht."

This watch was made in honor after Ellie Beinhorn and her success.
Watch casign:
Matte steel with screwed on steel-bottom; a nice 43,5 mm, two-way turnable bezel;
waterresistant to 5 bar; This wonderful casing in a TOP military style is made
to turn heads.
One special thing about this watch is the real 24-hour time display, another
is the dial- which supports the display with its color. The dial is coated completely
with a night-glowing cover in the lower/night area, and in the upper/day area
only the digits are "made to glow".

Classic black color; hardly reflects so you can always tell the time; very bright
night glowing digits and hands; overall just a great "Pilots Watch".

Hardened with mineral K1; new; low reflecting.
