Submarine Coat: Grey

The grey Submarine leather grey coat is superb! It is made of real leather and matches an original U-boat watch officers leather coat in detail.
The coat has quality lining and with well sewn on buttons that will not easily fall or pull off. It is very heavy and holds fast against the strongest wind. Unless you are near the arctic you won't get cold wearing this coat!
As to fit I am 6'4" and have a size 50" chest and a slightly larger belly. I chose size 6xl and its a perfect fit with enough roof for a sweater. Usually when I order such a large size the sleeve length is orangutan long. However the sleeve length is prefect for me aided by the elastic cuff bands.

If you are looking for a good reproduction leather submarine coat then this is for you. It looks good for day to day wear as well.

So two years and one month later (see my previous review of "Joseph writes 19.11.2018"), I bought another Noble House U-Boot Jacket, this time in size 3XL. The size now is absolutely perfect! The Jacket construction is absolutely perfect! The historical fit and look is absolutely perfect! In my opinion, this Jacket is not historically intended to fit like a fashion leather jacket or flight jacket. A quick search of photos of U-Boot Captains and crew from WWII will confirm this. I recommend at least 5-7" of room beyond your actual chest size. The measurement of the 3XL across the chest from armpit to armpit is ~23", times two equals 46". Again, I am 5'9" in height; weight 147 pounds; chest size 40"; waist size 32", and the 3XL provides enough room to layer a thick sweater or flannels with t-shirts while enabling complete freedom of movement with no restriction to the upper body, arms, chest, shoulders, etc.

I may still wear my 2XL whenever I am going to wear just a shirt or light trim-fitting clothes. I will certainly be gifting it to my young son when he grows to a 34" - 38" chest.

I treated the leather with Pecard's leather creme. The Noble House" Dubbin" is an excellent leather treatment as well - you should certainly include it with your Jacket order. As such, this jacket is impervious to wind, sleet, snow, freezing rain, all the elements you might expect to absorb while on the con in the North Atlantic! Finally, customer service, as always, is the best I have ever experienced in any form of retail, on-line or in person! Claire, you and the Noble House team are simply outstanding!

An outstanding Jacket of great quality, excellent heavy grey-coloured steerhide, with wonderful attention to detailing! Strong stitching overall, with unique leather grain characteristics. What really impresses me even over all this is how quite historically accurate this Jacket is to the same Jackets I've seen in various period photos and actual surviving U-Boot leather jacket relics.

One note on sizing: I am a size 101.5cm/40" chest and found the size XXL to offer the necessary 7.6cm/3" - 10cm/4" extra internal room I need for a trim, but comfortable fit (the suggested size for my actual chest on this site is Medium and that is far too small!) Also, one must be aware that the arm holes of this Jacket are higher up, which takes some getting used to, and the historically accurate design of the jacket features a bit narrower fit at the top, which widens from top to bottom, typical nautical A-shape. I treated the Jacket with leather conditioner and after a few times wearing it to shovel snow, I found the leather relaxing perfectly where I previously found it a bit snug at the shoulders and upper chest.

Find yourself a navy blue U-Boot wool watchcap with the fuzzy tassle at top and you are one finely equipped Oberfähnrich zur See.

This is my most favourite leather jacket of all time, although the Hartmann runs a close second!

Finally, I cannot praise Noble House customer service enough - Alex, Melanie, you folks are simply WONDERFUL!

Je viens de prendre livraison du manteau U-boat gris.
Quelles sont mes impressions?
C'est magnifique, que ce soit dans le qualité des matériaux utlisés, que la fidélité de la reproduction de ce manteau exclusivement utilisé par les "loups gris" ( sous mariniers ) dans cette couleur. La version noire était plutôt réservée aux bâtiments de surface ou aux mécaniciens, me semble t-il.

Je remercie particulièrement Anne, ainsi que Klaus pour leurs conseils avisés. ( j'ai bien obtenu la taille 6XL en gris comme demandée, bien qu'elle n'apparaît pas lors de la commande en ligne. 4XL maximum sur le site pour la couleur grise ? )

Toujours est-il que je suis pleinement satisfait de cet achat, qui convient parfaitement à mes attentes... Lorsque l'on à visionné "Das Boot" en version longue de Wolfgang Petersen, comment être indifférent ?

Je ne puis que recommander Noble House , pour la qualité de leurs productions, leur professionalisme, à l'écoute de leur clientèle, ainsi que l'expedition rapide.

Was sind meine Eindrücke?
Es ist schön, egal ob in der Qualität der Werkstoffe spielen, die Treue der Wiedergabe dieser Mantel ausschließlich von den "Grauen Wölfe" (U-Boot) in dieser Farbe. Die schwarze Version war eher für Überwasserschiffe oder Mechanikern vorbehalten, scheint mir dort.

Besonderen Dank an Anne und Klaus für ihre Beratung. (Ich habe die Größe 6XL grau erhalten wie verlangt, obwohl dies nicht der Fall bei der Bestellung online. 4XL die Site in der Farbe grau?)

Doch ich voll bin mit diesem Kauf zufrieden sind, ist die perfekt für meine Erwartungen ... Wenn in "Das Boot" in langen Version von Wolfgang Petersen gesehen, wie können wir gleichgültig sein?

I have just taken delivery of the mantle gray U-boat.
What are my impressions?
It's beautiful, whether in the quality of materials Played, the fidelity of reproduction of this coat used exclusively by the "gray wolves" (submariners) in this color. The black version was rather reserved for surface vessels or mechanics, seems to me there.
